MOHALI, PUNJAB — The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) just rolled out a bunch of updates for the 2026 board exams. If you’re in Class 10 or 12, or you’ve got one at home, here’s what you need to know as the exam season kicks off.

Admit Cards Are Out
The board has released admit cards for both Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 exams. Regular students can grab theirs from school. Private candidates need to download them from the official website. Don’t forget—no admit card, no entry to the exam hall. These cards list your exam dates, centre, and when you need to show up, so check everything carefully.
Class 10 exams run from March 6 to April 1, 2026. For Class 12, exams start in mid-February and go until April 4, 2026. All papers are pen-and-paper, held at designated schools across Punjab.
Practical Exam Guidelines
PSEB has also put out practical exam instructions for both classes. These practicals are scheduled earlier in February. Students need to reach their centre before reporting time and follow all directions. Schools have got strict instructions too—everyone’s expected to handle and evaluate materials carefully so things stay fair.
A New Way of Assessing Students
The board is changing how it marks papers. There’s now less focus on multiple-choice questions and more on questions that test your ability to think, analyze, and solve problems. The goal here is simple: move away from rote memorization and actually check if students understand what they’ve learned.
Here’s What Matters for Students and Parents
Check your admit card. Make sure your details, exam dates, and centre address are right. If something’s off, let the board know right away.
Stick to the rules for practicals. Arrive on time, follow all the steps, and listen to instructions so you don’t run into trouble.
Understand the new exam style. With more analytical questions, it makes sense to practise sample papers and old question sets that match the new pattern.
